What is the Human Rewilding Project?
The Human Rewilding Project is a movement to reconnect humans with nature, community, and themselves, while addressing the root causes of modern chronic illnesses and mental health challenges.
Born from the observations of three experienced practitioners, the project emerged after noticing that post pandemic conventional healing protocols were less effective, reflecting a fracture in collective resilience coupled with a deep disconnection from natural rhythms.
Modern toxicities, from pesticides, processed foods, isolation, loneliness, and electromagnetic pollution are diminishing microbial diversity and overall health. We also acknowledge that the shifts in microbial diversity and subsequent decline in immune health are also tied to the "hygiene hypothesis" that emerged in the 1950s to help understand the increased rise in autoimmunity and allergies. After 75 years of "hypothesis" we are still not further forward and immune resilience continues to decline.
The Human Rewilding Project seeks to support practitioners who observe these trends but lack effective tools to support their clients. By providing practical strategies to foster reconnection with nature’s elements, authentic community, and innate instincts, the project equips practitioners to guide clients toward lasting resilience and recovery.
The project will simultaneously engages in deep research to address existential threats to humankind, such as antimicrobial resistance, microbiome depletion, and the health impacts of artificial environments aiming to generate evidence-based solutions that may help restore what is being lost. The Human Rewilding Project is a call to reclaim the wisdom of our evolved biology, to support health while facing the challenges of modern day living.

Why we focus on the "Hygiene Hypothesis"?
For over three decades since the hygiene hypothesis emerged in 1989, research has highlighted how diminished microbial exposure fuels the rise of allergies and autoimmune diseases, yet we’re still no further forward in truly understanding how to rebuild lost immune resilience.
Chronic illnesses rates continue to climb, and the human race is under the threat of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) from overuse of antibiotics and sanitisers, which strip away beneficial microbes, and destroy microbiome diversity, this is excacerbated by many other factors including urban lifestyles and processed diets. The Human Rewilding Protect is passionate about reversing this trend by reconnecting people with nature’s healing power.
Our research explores how natural environments can restore microbial balance and bolster health, with remarkable outcomes already transforming our clients’ healing journeys. Our broader goals are to collaborate with researchers and innovators to deepen these discoveries.
